I have put this off way too long! It's about time we celebrate our little O on this blog. It's actually a week before his 2-year birthday, but I can't wait any longer. :) Prepare for an overload of cuteness!! (There's no great pattern to these pictures, other than the fact that they're in sequential order. So these first ones are from three or four months ago. You'll notice his hair gradually getting longer little by little...)
Owen is just a bundle of joy and energy and cuteness and, a lot of the time, trouble! I call him "Crazy" more than anything these days, and I'm trying to stop because I'm afraid it's making him even more so! You wouldn't know it by looking at these first pics. He looks like the image of propriety here, my sweet little church boy.
What a face!
This pic is more like it. Squinty eyes, big smile, a hint of mischievousness... I actually took this a little bit after he got his last round of shots at the doctor! Suckers make everything so much better!
I love looking over and catching him in little moments like this, concentrating so hard on what he's learning to do. Looks like he's a lego man, like so many other boys in this family!
Owen's trying so hard to be independent these days, and he surprises me all the time with the things he's figuring out! Here he attempted to put his hat on by himself and almost got it right...
That same day he also got Ari's baby doll and put it in his booster seat with a bib to feed it!
And he helped me unload the dishwasher! As much as I love that, he's still growing up WAY too fast!
On lazy days he loves staying in his "cozies" (any one-piece pajamas). More than once he's absolutely refused to wear anything else! And here he also has one of his favorite snacks, his "chick chick" (squeezie fruit baby food). Don't mind the yucky nose... That's how his nose looked most of the winter!
Owen loves playing with his older brothers, and in these pics Matt had shown him how to tie his blanket around him sumo-style. They ran around the house together looking silly and acting even sillier!
I asked the dentist if pacifiers were affecting his teeth and he didn't think so (he has more of an overbite rather than a open bite caused by a paci) so I'm not it any big hurry to take them away! I mean, look at him! The kid's crazy about his pacis!
And he loves balls of any kind as well. :) Who knew doll strollers could be used for so many things? This one's all boy, that's for sure!
Mealtimes have become quite the adventure lately. He is so messy! And when in his booster his drinks and anything not eaten end up in a huge soppy mess all over his tray. But he has seemed to chunk up a little over the last couple months, so I assume he's eating all that he needs, even if it does seem to end up anywhere else but in his mouth!
Silly boy can't get enough of Ariana or her things. He LOVES his sister! He knows just how to get her to smile, too.
How could you not smile at this face?!
More than anything, this boy loves to be outside!! He asks me over and over throughout the day... "Side? Go? Side??" And he'll bring me his shoes and jacket and stand by the door until someone will let him escape. Now that it's really warming up I'm hoping we'll get to spend lots of good time outdoors. There's nothing better than a boy and lots of dirt (which our neighborhood has plenty of)!
Speaking of shoes, Owen has a major thing for shoes! He seems to like Ari's shoes the best He clomps around in her shoes all the time, I think mostly because they're easier to slip on than his own. Or maybe he just has a thing for pink sparkles. :) I love his little chicken legs in these pics!
This picture was taken just a couple days ago, and it's one of my favorites! Look at those eyes! He melts me.
We decided to give him an early birthday present - his first trike! He was dying for something to ride outside and he loves it! He doesn't do the pedals yet, but he enjoys scooting himself around.
I snapped a few pics today just to be able to show a few more things about him. He's totally obsessed with bouncy balls these days! They're the perfect size for his little hand and he likes to carry one around with him all the time! If he has to eat or climb something, he stashes it in a safe place and retrieves it as soon as he's done. :)
Cute boy.Still doing the hair thing! His longer hair is better for him, I'm sure.
This little stinker is always climbing on top of the sink counters to play in the water or brush his teeth! If I can't find him or hear some water running I always know where to look!
Seriously! He's trouble! But I can't get too mad at this face.
I can't even say how much we love this sweet boy! Here are a few more things about him...
- He loves trucks and tractors and planes and trains.
- He loves dogs and animals of any kind.
- His favorite shows ("Show, Mom! Show!") on TV are Mickey Mouse and Paw Patrol (cute dog show).
- He gets super excited to watch movies in the car ("Movieee!")
- He sings along to "Let it Go" from Frozen and likes making up his own songs in the sweetest little voice.
- He loves reading books, especially tractor books.
- He calls Ariana "Nana" and both Bryan and Matthew "Mattew." :)
- He has a pretty big vocabulary of words, and is just starting to put some together in to 2-word sentences ("Daddy home!").
- When he says goodbye he says "See ya!"
- He's an awesome little sleeper and never gives me any trouble going to bed, but he does wake up around 6:30 or 7:00 no matter what! He sings or calls out for people to come and get him ("Nana! Wake!"), which is cute, but would be a lot cuter if it were a little later...
- He LOVES playing at the park and has no fear on the slides or playgrounds!
- He loves baths and showers and swimming in water of any kind!
- He loves granola bars, animal crackers, yogurt and clementines.
- He's always super excited to go to Nursery! (Yay!)
- He's become extremely wiggly, especially when I'm changing his diaper!
- He loves to color, and all too often colors on things he's not supposed to...
- He gives the best tight hugs with lots of pats on the back.
- He says hi to people we pass at the store. He's become quite the little flirt.
- His best buddy is his cousin, Celine ("Nee Nee"). :) They are the cutest two little peas in a pod!
- He's a total daddy's boy. :)
Happy birthday, Baby Boy! You bring so much joy and sunshine to our lives! Please stop growing up so fast. We love you soooo much!
