32 weeks!

Comparing this picture with the last one I posted, it doesn't look like I've grown much, but it sure feels like it!  These past few weeks have certainly been more uncomfortable - a lot more pressure and aches and pains down where the baby sits.   That's expected though, and just makes me excited knowing that I'm getting so close to actually meeting this little guy!  I had a check-up this morning and everything checked out perfectly.  The doctor informed me that the baby's head is definitely down, which explains my recent discomfort.  At my last check-up four weeks ago he was still in a breech position, so while I'm glad he's flipped in preparation for labor, I'm missing how comfortable I was with him that way... Oh well.  My legs are still doing all right, although I only really fit in one pair of my jeans anymore.  I live in my sweat pants these days, at least when I know I'm not leaving the house for anything.  I couldn't live without my stretchy pants. :)  Which leads me to mention a few other things I couldn't live without this pregnancy...

- Toasted Corn cereal from Walmart (generic Corn Chex) - my favorite nighttime snack!
- My back scratcher - comes in really handy when David's not around...
- Anything with chocolate and peanut butter!
- Good books!  Like good historical novels or regency romance - nothing too heavy. :)
- My compression hose!  I love how good I feel when I have them on, compared to how rotten I feel when I don't!
- Cozy slippers.
- My iPod Touch to keep me entertained when I can't sleep at night.
- Green smoothies - I haven't gotten sick (like a cold) once this pregnancy and I attribute it to my daily smoothies.

One of the the things I love lately is "playing" with the baby.  I love pressing on different little body parts and then feeling him kick back or move something else in response.  It makes it all seem so real!  I love his little hiccups, too, which I feel several times a day.  Makes me so anxious to meet him!  The kids are getting anxious as well.  Ari loves looking at the clothes/blankets/toys I've been collecting over the past few weeks and telling people we're going to have a baby boy soon.  And Matt's so sweet about hugging my belly and putting blankets on my belly to "keep the baby warm."  Bryan's always good about putting his hand on my belly to feel the baby moving when I get excited to share with someone.  They're all going to be such awesome little helpers!  I can't wait. :)

Moments

In my last post I mentioned how I had "a moment" where I realized how happy and blessed I was with my family.  Well, it's occurred to me the last couple days that I have lots of those moments and don't often recognize them as such.  When I used to do my "Daily Five" things way back when I was more careful to look out for times like that, and I think it's time I started up again.  I may not be as diligent as I was before, but I'm going to try and record the "I-feel-blessed" moments that occur daily so I don't take them for granted.  So here are some from today - little moments worth remembering.

- Watching the kids dance to Disney songs in the kitchen at breakfast.
- Watching Ari twirl around so daintily in the tutu that she insists on wearing with her pajamas.  (I need to get a picture!)
- Seeing David walk into the kitchen looking so handsome and happy after returning from a special sealing at the temple.
- Matty's sweet hugs around my big belly and his soft and spontaneous "I love you, Mom."
- Ariana's messy face as she enjoyed a lemon cupcake.
- All five of us cuddled together on the couch - David insisted that we could all fit - while we watched "Mulan" as a lazy Saturday afternoon activity.
- Stealing quick kisses from David throughout the day, since he's told me the average couple kisses three times a day and we should be better than that. :)
- Listening to Ari read nursery rhymes so animatedly to herself in her room during some quiet time.
- Watching Bryan and Matt laugh hysterically as they catapulted themselves down the slide with their toy lawnmower at the park.
- Overhearing a rather emotional heart-to-heart conversation between David and Bryan about making new friends and always being there for one another, no matter where life leads us in the future. :)
- Watching Ariana wait expectantly to find a hidden object during a game of hide and seek with David.
- Seeing the looks of triumph on the kids' faces as they took turns winning the "I Spy" game.
- Watching Ariana deep in thought as we talked about David going to the temple, and then hearing her say "That's where Jesus lives!"  :)

What it all comes down to

I had a moment tonight.   One of those where I take a mental snapshot and think, I'm really happy right now. :)  David was finally home from work and the kids were crawling all over him, trying to get up on his back while he was on his hands and knees and begging him to take them for a ride.  Of course, no one was able to stay on long enough to go anywhere, but they didn't care.  They were all smiles and giggles.  With upcoming changes in our life (that we still don't know the details of) I wonder sometimes if I'm going to look back and wish I'd cherished these days more.  I tend to look ahead too much and miss out on the simple joys of the here and now.  So moments like these are good for me since they remind me to enjoy my life as it is, in all it's simplicity, with my beautiful kids and husband.  No matter where we live or what kind of house we end up in, it's still always going to come down to them.

With that said, I wanted to record this letter Bryan wrote me at school last week. :)
His Primary class was having a pizza party after school that he was really excited about.  I thought it was sweet that he'd consider the fact I might be lonely without him here.   And I'm glad I'm only mean sometimes! :)

Look familiar, Mom?

I love Ari in this little coat.  The cool thing is, this was my coat when I was her age!  My mom was good enough to hold onto it all these years, and I've had it tucked away in Ari's closet until just this last week!  I wish I would have pulled it out a lot sooner. :)

Valentine's Day

My sweet Valentines...
Waiting in the morning for their Valentine's Day gifts...
Bryan insisted on decorating his Valentine's Day box with dragon duct tape.  He at least drew a heart. :)
And we decided to take the creative route with Matty's preschool Valentines.  (Thank goodness for Pinterest!)
I forgot to take a picture of my main Valentine, but we enjoyed yummy take-out from P.F. Changs and had a nice, chill evening, with the promise of a little getaway to Arizona in a couple weeks. :)

Family Night at the Provo Temple

This last Monday, David was in charge of Family Night and took us to the Provo Temple to walk around the grounds and talk about its significance.  Little did I know that he was remembering a walk we took around the same temple nine years ago on Valentine's Day when he first told me he loved me.  He surprises me sometimes with the details he remembers. :)  It didn't occur to me at the time, though, and I just went along glad to be out of the house and happy to do something different for a change.

We were the only ones there, which isn't too surprising considering it was cold and overcast Monday evening, but it was nice having the grounds all to our selves.
A rare smiling picture of David...
The boys had to run everywhere and touch everything, of course.
Thankfully, Ari was content to just walk holding David's hand.
David was able to get the boys to sit still for a few minutes while he talked about the Angel Moroni, the special things we do inside the temples, and the importance of a temple recommend.  Here's Bryan looking up at the Moroni statue...
Showing his recommend...
And Ari, surely deep in thought...
After our "lesson," we walked around the back side of the temple, but the boys couldn't resist running up and down the snow-covered hills.  Ari didn't want to leave David's side. :)
I asked everyone to stand together for a family picture and this is what I got...  :/
Still, it was a nice family night, made even nicer with a quick visit to Sara and her family and Thai takeout.  I love it when David takes charge of FHE!

Alexia's Baby Blessing

Yesterday we got to go up to Heather's ward for Alexia's baby blessing.  It was extra special because Dad was there, so we all had a nice little reunion in the chapel.  Jake did a beautiful job with the blessing, and I just loved being there with family.  After the blessing we all went back to Heather and Jake's house for a yummy luncheon.  Their house with packed, since all the Yospes were there as well, but it was lots of fun to visit and there was so much delicious food!  Thankfully I didn't get full as quickly as I normally might with my growing belly, so I ate a ton!  I'm sure Baby Boy didn't mind...  And in typical Toone fashion, we took a bunch of pictures.  Here are some of the ones I got that I especially liked.  (I snagged the top picture off of Heather's facebook page - most adorable little face ever!)

Cute girl shot.  Little Lexi was such a little angel the whole day long!
My Matthew.
Grandpa Toone and Baby Lexi.  I think Dad's been able to attend most if not all of the baby blessings in our family, which is saying a lot since we're all out in UT and he's in PA!
Princess Bree - love it. :)
Bree and Bryan posing like a cheesy dance pic to show off their matching blues.  Bry was a good sport. :)
And a little more silly...
Heather looked gorgeous in her pinks!  She's come a long way in the last couple months!  Love you, Heath!

Life Update

I am tired!  That pretty much sums things up for me, but such is life at 29 weeks.  I seem to suffer from pregnancy insomnia every other night, and I did find out at my last appointment that I'm low on iron, so I've had to start taking supplements.  Hopefully that will give me some extra energy!  I really should be going to bed right now (or at least try to fall asleep), but I want to write a quick update, just to keep up on things...

Ariana amazes me every day with the things she says and does!  She really is like a little lady, talking so articulately and saying things like, "Oh, that's so terrible!" with all the feeling of an adult.  Her pronunciation of the "L" sound is one of the few things that reminds me she's still only two.  She uses a "W" sound instead, so "little" becomes "wittle," and so forth.  I love it.  I really wish she could just stay two forever!  She's seriously so much fun these days.  Her newest love is playing "Memory," as long as we play by her rules. ;)  I have to admit I let a few things slide, like letting her take extra turns to find the match, just to see how excited she gets and hear the little growling sound of triumph she makes (hard to explain).  She also loves playing our "I Spy" game, which is actually a favorite of the boys as well.  Here's a picture of David and the kids playing not too long ago...

Ari's also more and more into princesses these days.  She wants to check out every Disney princess book from the library and will ask me to read them over and over.  And she says that for her birthday she wants a princess bike, a princess bed, a princess TV and a princess computer!  Um, we'll definitely hold off (indefinitely) on the TV and computer, but maybe I'll look into the other two...  She's still happily in her crib but is due to graduate to a toddler bed in the next month or two, and I love the idea of getting her a new bike once Spring comes around.  We should get a gender-neutral color bike that Baby Boy can use some day (since Bry and Matt have beaten our other bikes into the ground) but I may not be able to resist something pink for our girl...

Matthew is still the emotional firecracker of the family.  You never know what's going to set him off or when.  He can be super sweet and affectionate one minute and then start screaming, "Never! Never!!" the next, which is apparently his favorite way to express his distaste for something.  Thankfully he always calms down quickly if we just leave him alone or give him an extra hug or two. :)  He also happens to be the child these days that says, "I love you" the most.  He'll come and crash into my belly and give me a hug and say "I love you" at the most random times, so it's especially sweet.  He's becoming more and more inquisitive about things - typical of four-year-olds - and asks questions like "How's the baby going to come out of your belly?" or "What makes a tractor so strong?" or "Does it take a long time to get to heaven?" :)  Keeps me on my toes.

One kind of weird thing that's developed with him lately is that he's taken to hoarding food!  He must be going through a growth spurt or something, because it seems he wants to eat non-stop.  If I don't lock the pantry in between meals, he's in there all the time, and it's always the sweet things he's after.  He's gotten into the sugar jar multiple times, downed a bottle of pink candy sprinkles, and eaten jam and ice cream right out of the containers.  Then he'll sneak snacks up to his room and I'll find crumbs in the most random places.  Sometimes he'll sneak food into his bed at night, and once he even hid a cookie in his underwear!!  Gross!!  I'm trying to be better about making sure he gets enough good snacks during the day, in addition to good meals, so that he doesn't have to resort to his sneaky ways!  He is a big kid - almost as tall as Bryan - so I guess this just may be how it's going to be with him.  I can't imagine the food we'll go through when he's a teenager!

As for Bryan, he made us proud this last week by receiving the academic Student of the Month award for his class at school!
I think since his reading has taken off, he's really excelled.  He has a knack for numbers, so he's been doing great at math as well.  He loves learning, and I often think that I should be doing more to challenge him here at home, but at least he's enjoying school and learning new things.  I'm thinking once school's out I'll experiment with some home schooling activities for writing and such to really see what he's capable of.

He's also doing a great job with the piano!  He's about ready to move up to the next level and continually surprises me at how quickly he catches on to things.  He's able to memorize songs fairly well and really gets excited about playing.  It makes me excited to think that we might have a real little piano player on our hands!  He can't sing on tune to save his life (bless his heart), but at least he can play. :)

David started a diet this last week - mostly vegan w/ lots of fruits and veggies - and he did a great job!  He just needs a little detox period to jumpstart healthy eating and so far so good.  He's started working out again as well, so he's lost several pounds in just the last few days.  I'll have to do a whole separate post on our eating goals and such.  I really want us to eat healthy, but there are things I struggle with and can't quite figure out which direction I want to take (dairy or no dairy, etc.)  But I'll save that discussion for another day...

On a different note, Dad came into town this weekend!  Being the nice guy that he is, he braved the winter storms and drove out a car for Grandma Willes to use since her car broke down a couple weeks ago.  He'll get to attend Alexia's blessing tomorrow and stay a couple days before flying back to PA on Tuesday.   The boys are excited to go  on a "date" on Monday, since Grandpa always does cool stuff like take them out to eat and to the Tractor Supply store or something. :)  We'll all get to visit at a luncheon after the baby blessing, and then Dad and most of the family will come back here for dinner and the Superbowl.  It should be fun!  Then next week brings something David and I have been anticipating for a while, but I'll wait and write about that in another blog post as well. ;)  We're anxious and excited...  For now, though, I think this little update has gone on long enough.
